Why This Topic Matters

Nationally, nearly 4 in 10 graduates never visited their school’s career services office or used online career resources (Gallup, 2016). Yet, research indicates having career goals increases student success and retention. Expanding the reach of career services on campus is crucial to helping students develop these goals, complete their degrees and prepare for professional success after graduation. This program integrates career development into all four years of the student life cycle to be sure to reach students where they are with just-in-time topics.

Who Should Attend?

This program is ideal for college career services professionals interested in expanding the reach of their career services and ensuring consistent messaging across campus about the career development process.

Overview

How do you build a bridge between education and employment for every student without a required career course or required career advising? From entering freshman to exiting seniors, students at the University of Baltimore (UB) receive career development interventions throughout their life cycle. Participants will learn how the Career & Internship Center at the University of Baltimore reaches each student through partnerships with faculty and integration into the University’s core curriculum. This webinar explores:

  • Developing appropriate career learning outcomes for each year of college

  • Identifying faculty career champions and developing partnerships

  • Collaborating on creating career assignments to integrate into core curriculum classes and syllabi

  • Co-teaching and guest teaching career lessons in core curriculum classes
